Theme Thursday - Sun

This week was a challenge for me, and not cause it has been raining for days here, cause I did manage to get a few hours of sunny weather mid week. But because the shots didn't turn out as I'd hoped. I always have this grand plan when I set up a shoot in my head (do you ever do that?) and it never works out the way I think. I love the shots of 'glowing' sunny hair so that's what I tried. Unfortunately I didn't estimate how hard it would be to get the lighting right on the face and the get focus perfect. But I will continue to practice practice. Anyway, here are my girls playing outside in the new and improved play area.

And here's another one for fun:

I think they turned out very nicely. I know what you mean about trying to capture the photo that's in your head-that's hard to do!

happens to me ALL the time -- the shot i have planned never pans out, but i usually get something unexpected instead :)! i'm still working on "sun-from-behind" shots, too.

Beautiful shots, great memories captured!

To quote a photographer whose work I SO enjoy...
"I can't tell you how many pictures I've missed, ignored, trample or otherwise lost just 'cause I've been so hell bent on getting the shot I THINK I want..."
(Joe McNally in his new book 'The Moment It Clicks')

Just keep shooting, amazing things happen!

I agree with Bunny. You did a nice job for a first attempt. Adjust the color a little and you'll get it. I love the glowing hair, too.

You've done well. Sun is hard especially if you are not using the manual mode on your camera. Keep praticing. I need to do one of the baby in the air shots.

Your girls are so adorable and I love that last shot. Cute!

I think you did a great job with the backlighting. The problem is usually making sure their face is not underexposed. It's a challenge, but keep shooting. That's the best way to learn!

I *love* that last shot!!

And I can totally relate! I always have these grand ideas but my execution never lives up to them. But we keep trying right? LOL

I'm glad I'm not the only one with these feelings, though! :D

Great shots - and that last one is perfect!

I love the last one especially, but I love all your kiddy shots. Your kids are gorgeous!

PS - like Danab's comment too.

Basically, I learn from you and others trying and telling your tales.

yeah....happens all the time. i have so many ideas - it is the execution that baffles me often. i think some of my best shots were just merely happy "accidents!"

i love the sunlit hair ones, though...

AWW that last one is such a wonderful memory - we here have been having tons of rain too - I am totally sick of it, what about you :)
