PSF - Tires of Gold

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

Two years ago we bought the dreaded mini-van. Neither of us wanted one but with the third child on the way it seemed the logical choice. We researched, created spreadsheets, test drove all of the vans out there and finally settled on one. The biggest flaw with this mini-van was the tires. We hated the tires. They ride terrible and they are crazy crazy expensive. Well the time had come to replace them after only just over 40K miles. Oh, did I mention that these tires wear terribly too? After much thought, more spreadsheets and more test drives we decided to keep this van and replace the tires to get about one more year out of it. Wow, was that painful. I am still not sure that was the right decision but its done now. Maybe next year there will be another vehicle that we will love more and can haul around our large family. Hmmm....maybe not.

Spending tons of money on tires TOTALLY stinks! It's so expensive! It cost $500 to replace on our truck. Ugh.

I LOVE THIS PHOTO! I know it's only a tire, but I love how well the photo turned out. I am weird huh!

I hate replacing tires, which I seem to be doing All.The.Time! Good Luck with one more year. We have been looking into a van or SUV to accommodate a third child too. Which Van did you buy?

Please VISIT My PSF. Thank You!

Ugh. I can't beleive how expensive tires are.. One Christmas I asked my parents to buy me two tires.. I know it is a yuck present but atleast I didn't have to buy them on my own.. sad huh?

Yes, tires are expensive! I too had spending money on stuff like this. When gas started rising, I heard a financial expert talk about her decision to keep her SUV. She compared cost of SUV for one year vs a new fuel efficient car (that cost more). She said in one year she would only spend 900.00 more for the SUV in gas/products than for the fuel efficient car. AND, the new car would be the added cost of payments. For the smart people who can do all of the math see that it would cost way more to get the fuel efficient car..I became a believer. Sometimes it's just better to keep what you have. Guess I'll keep my car a few more years.! Great post!

I absolutely DREAD future car-shopping with my soon-to-be hubby. He is ALL excited about it and keeps sending me to look online at different cars... I'm like, "Can I just get a pretty red one and call it a day??"

Good luck on the next one!

Ooooh, I love the dof ON THIS! And I so hear ya. I traded my bmw for a mini-van. BLECH! Ours, sadly, needs new tires too! Cha-ching.

See I do love my van. I have an odyssey. We had to just change two tires and it HURT. I do feel your pain. But I enjoy it and it has a bumper to bumper 100,000 mi warranty so other than routine things we don't really have out of pocket expenses when something happens which is VERY nice no matter what the car.

Neat tire picture.

We have tire problems at our house. We've had blow outs on the freeway, flats in the city, and tires that loose all the air overnight every night. I hate tires. Hate that we have to spend lots of money on them and hate that they don't seem to like me AT ALL.

I feel you on this one. OH how I feel you!!!

That said, that is one GREAT tire shot!!

I hear you on the tire issue. Tires for anything bigger than a compact car, are ridiculous.
As for the dreaded mini van -- at least we're not driving station wagons anymore.

Vehicles are such a pain!
3 kids and 2 parents can still fit in a car......

We had to spend like $900 to change the tires on our car about a year ago...the ones that came on the car didn't even make it 35,000 miles! But, the new ones we bought are significantly better and I'm hoping they last a lot longer!

Oh, and I'm probably getting a mini van in a few months too...I swore on my life I would never do it, but now it seems logical!
